Karl visited Kazakhstan to get inspired by the nomadic environment and study Kazakh folk instruments. This helped him a lot when composing the Suites.
At Carnegie Hall, the composer himself conducted the orchestra, and Marat Bisengaliyev performed a virtuoso violin solo.
The Suites were well appreciated by the audience, who felt the breath of the steppe. And, after the concert, the artists won a long-standing ovation.
